The simple looking thread embroidery has the most interesting history and is more complicated than it appears to be.
The origination of Sujani craft was for two reasons. One, to stitch up old pieces of soft cotton dhoti and saree to wrap in a new born, and two, to depict stories and messages on bed covers by the Rajput women who had no other means of communication with their parents’ house.

Bihart has kept this art alive in its traditional form using the five different kinds of stitches and the story-depiction intact by exporting the art on belts, bags and clothes. Look out for our traditional bed-spreads with the story depiction Sujani in all its glory!
